On a beautiful fall day this past October, family members and friends of Millie Taylor-Morrison and Harold Morrison gathered to celebrate a love story 60 years in the making. Their love story, as discussed by Fort Myers home care experts, proves romance can transcend time.
Millie, age 86, and Harold, age 85, met in church in the early 1950s. She was the beautiful choir girl, and he was the charming and impeccably dressed gentleman.
Despite the fact they admired each other, the two did not end up together. Millie married another man, with Harold as a wedding guest. Millie and her husband proceeded to have four children and were married for 41 years until his death in 1992.
Although they didn’t see each other for many years, Millie and Harold reconnected again when he started attending her new church. The two became close when Millie helped care for Harold during a number of different illnesses. During one of these illnesses, it was clear Harold could no longer live alone.
Millie invited Harold to live with her. When Harold recovered a year later, the pair realized they were in love. Harold and Millie wanted to honor their Christian faith, so they decided to get married despite their age.
Millie, who was a model in the 1950s, looked stunning in a purple and lavender dress she helped design. Harold was so moved he started to tear up as she walked down the aisle. The couple’s bridal party comprised of their grandchildren.
According to Millie, the couple’s routine has not changed much since their nuptials. They share a prayer over breakfast every morning. Harold tells Millie he loves her every day, and Millie calls him “boo.”
