Events That the Elderly Should See on Thanksgiving in Fort Myers, FL

Thanksgiving isn’t a day to spend alone, and older adults living in Fort Myers should take advantage of some holiday activities they can participate in with family, friends, and caregivers this year. Fort Myers, FL, in-home senior care experts have put together a list of 4 great local events taking place during Thanksgiving week that are likely to bring joy to a senior’s life.

1. The Gobbler 5K

This race will take place at the Florida Gulf University on November 24th starting at 7:30am. The marathon gives seniors the opportunity to reduce stress, have fun, and get some exercise before their Thanksgiving celebration begins. It’s also a wonderful event where seniors can bring their friends and family together to begin the day in a healthy way. Seniors of all fitness levels are welcome to run, jog, or walk in this Thanksgiving race.

2. Thanksgiving Cruise

Complimentary bottled water, soft drinks, and pie will also be served.

3. Feeding the 5000: Thanksgiving Outreach

The Lamb of God Church at 19691 Cypress View Drive will be hosting this food drive during the week of Thanksgiving. There are numerous volunteering opportunities for seniors during this week, including kitchen helpers, servers, dessert packers, and phone staff. On Thanksgiving morning, the church also needs volunteers to deliver the meals to families in need so everyone has something to be thankful for. Volunteering gives seniors a sense of purpose and helps them bond with their community.
